Capricorn Cottage
Introduction
Capricorn Cottage is a forward-thinking facility for people with learning disabilities, aged 18 and over. The home provides residential, respite and day care for both social service and private clients.
Situated in 2 acres of gardens, Capricorn Cottage is ideally located on the edge of the village of Fleet, south of Lincolnshire. The home is registered with the CQC (Care Quality Commission) and currently holds the "Investors in People" award as well as having recently achieved a Lincolnshire County Council Three Star Award for its food and for quality of care.
The village of Fleet boasts 2 public houses, village stores with post office, tea rooms and a church and chapel. The village is on the main bus route and central to the towns of Spalding, Boston, Kings Lynn and Wisbech. Holbeach and Long Sutton are each only 2 miles away and the coast is within easy reach.
Activities & Social
Activities vary week by week and residents are notified by a posting on the notice board. A wide range of activities is available, including outings to ten-pin bowling, swimming and gym facilities, horse riding and more.
For a small fee, the home offers a mini bus and car to help get to community activities and appointments. A resource centre at Capricorn Cottage contains computers, games, books and puzzles.
Annual holidays away from the home are available to those clients who wish to join in, and short breaks are also arranged.
Accommodation
Capricorn Cottage is a sensitive blend of old and new, comprising 26 single bedrooms of which 13 have en-suite facilities. In addition, there is a semi-independent unit which accommodates 4 people in single en-suite bedrooms, a respite unit with 4 single en-suite bedrooms and a day care centre which accommodates 30 people.
In addition to spacious bedrooms, each unit has a lounge and kitchen. Bathrooms have a specialised wet-room shower facility in the new units, and baths in the original build units.
Person Centred Approach
Residents are the focal point of our service provision. We ensure that they are fully involved in the planning and delivery of services, promoting their right to dignity, privacy, choice and independence.
Residents have full access to a range of health and wellbeing services, including visiting GP or local GP surgery, physiotherapy, dentistry and dental hygiene, occupational therapy and wheelchair assessment services.
Hairdressing is available in-house or residents can visit hairdressers in Holbeach and the local village.
