Gables (Chatteris)

Introduction

The Gables (Chatteris) Residential Home is in the market town of Chatteris, 24 miles from Cambridge, 20 miles from Peterborough and 12 miles from Huntingdon. Chatteris boasts a library and local history museum and is well known for its Christmas lights display each year.

Activities & Social

Our activities organiser provides a range of activities aligned to residents' preferences and interests, including bingo, craft activities, nail therapy, coffee mornings, board games, outside entertainers and trips. Residents can visit the local church and local clergy will also visit residents in the home when needed.

We operate an open visiting policy and visiting friends and relatives of all ages are always made welcome.

Accommodation

The Gables (Chatteris) Residential Home has 48 comfortably furnished rooms, of which 9 are en-suite and 16 have direct access to the gardens. There are 4 lounges and social/dining areas and a range of assisted bathrooms with various facilities including jacuzzi, shower, bath with chair-lift and full wet-room.

We provide a comfortable and relaxed environment for our residents, enabling them to live as independently as possible. Rooms are furnished to a good standard and residents are encouraged to bring their own personal items such as pictures and ornaments, to help them feel more at home.

Every room has a call bell to alert staff if assistance is needed. Resident safety, comfort and independence are paramount and the home is furnished with handrails throughout, including in the bathrooms, to enable residents to move around with confidence.

We aim to provide a varied and nutritionally balance diet and all meals are cooked on-site using locally produced fruit and vegetables. Experienced cooks provide a carefully planned 4-week rolling menu with choices and are happy to accommodate vegan, vegetarian and other requirements.

Person Centred Approach

esidents are the focal point of our service provision. We ensure that they are fully involved in the planning and delivery of services, promoting their right to dignity, privacy, choice and independence.

An in-house hairdresser is available on a regular basis, as are the services of a chiropodist. The services of a local GP, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, optician, district nurse and assistive technology specialist are also available to residents on request.
