Introduction

Mandalay Residential Care Home is situated in a tree-lined residential road in the seaside town of Folkestone in Kent. The home is within walking distance of the town centre which is well served by a range of high street shops and has its own theatre.

The Kent coastal region is rich with places of historical and cultural interest, all within easy reach of Mandalay, including Norman churches, the Battle of Britain Museum and Dover Castle. The beautiful and historic city of Canterbury with its centuries old cathedral is just 18 miles away

Activities & Social

Residents at Mandalay can enjoy a range of activities including bingo and board games, seasonal activities, residents' birthday celebrations and trips out to garden centres and the theatre. We also host in-house entertainment such as singers and theatrical performances.

The home enjoys a warm relationship with local branch of Age Concern, which runs a day centre which residents are welcome to visit. Residents are also warmly welcomed at the Salvation Army's local Silver Song Club, which holds regular sessions of singing and music-making for the elderly.

For keen readers, daily papers and weekly magazines can be delivered on request.

We operate an open visiting policy and visiting friends and relatives of all ages are always made welcome. Visitors are also welcome to stay for lunch or supper by arrangement, should they wish.

Accommodation

Mandalay Residential Care Home has 46 rooms, all well-furnished and equipped to a high standard including TV and power points. A call bell system in every room allows residents to summon assistance should they need it.

Residents are encouraged to bring with them small items of furniture, pictures and ornaments to personalise their rooms and help them feel more at home.

In addition to the lounge, is a dining room and quiet area which looks out over a large garden. Both the garden at the back and the courtyard area to the front of the home are wheelchair accessible.

Residents are the focal point of our service provision. We ensure that they are fully involved in the planning and delivery of services, promoting their right to dignity, privacy, choice and independence.

In addition to the home's dedicated team of qualified, caring staff, residents can access a range of healthcare and wellbeing services who will visit the home, including GP and district nurses, chiropodist and hairdressing services.
